PTRWA-managed 3,007-acre Deep River impoundment (opened 2010) loaded with standing dead timber, creek-channel ledges, submerged roadbeds, and rock outcrops. Water runs clear-to-stained with tannin-influenced upper arms. North of the Hwy 62 bridge is electric-motor-only, keeping pressure light and bass shallow. Renowned spring destination — population dominated by 2.5–4.5 lb fish with a strong class of quality largemouth.

Regulations
NC license required. Largemouth: 14" minimum, 5/day (only 2 under 14"). No gas motors north of Hwy 62 bridge; 25 mph lake-wide. Boat/pier only — no bank fishing. Open Wed–Sun; check-in required at marina. No PWC, alcohol, or firearms on PTRWA property.
Local tip
Don't sleep on the electric-only end north of Hwy 62 — without gas-motor pressure, the biggest fish hold tight to shallow timber. A 3/8 oz white swim jig with a paddle-tail trailer along the first line of standing timber past the bridge at first light produces some of the lake's largest bass.
