Direct tie: Palomar straight to the line tie. Snaps and leaders kill the running action.

Better when it hits stuff: Tick grass, bump wood, deflect off rock. Pause for a split second after contact — that's when bites happen.

Tune the wire: If the bait runs sideways, gently bend the wire frame back in line so it tracks straight.

Match blade to mood: Willow = flash and speed. Colorado = thump and lift. Tandem = both.

When to Throw

Good Water

Wind-blown banks and points, stained water with visible flash, spring prespawn shallow cover, fall baitfish movement, grass flats, laydowns, docks, shallow rock.

Bad Water

Slick calm bluebird sun, deep inactive fish, ultra-clear water with no wind, severe post-front lockjaw — switch to finesse.
