Field Guide
Bladed Jig (Chatterbait)
Versatile vibrating jig that calls bass out of grass and docks. Cover water, rip free, trigger reaction bites.
Confidence
Gear
Rod
Cashion Element Multi-Purpose 7'1" Medium-Heavy / Moderate-Fast — the moderate-fast tip gives bass a split-second to get it in their mouth.
Reel
Baitcaster, 7.5:1 — high speed burns slack fast on snap-frees and dock work.
Line
Sufix Advance Fluorocarbon 17 lb (20 lb in heavy cover). No braid — fluoro stretch is critical for hooksets.
60-Second Refresher
When to Throw
Good Water
Bass feeding on bluegill, shad spawn, spring/fall bait push, grass present, stained-to-dirty water, covering water fast.
Bad Water
Water below 48°F, post-front inactive fish, crystal-clear water with no cover, deep open water >10 ft.

Where to Throw Each
Grass flats / hydrilla / pads
Cover water — find pockets, points, ditches. Rip through grass.
Boat docks — parallel
Line should rub the poles. Fish feel vibration from 2–3 poles away. Hit corners.
Grass edges / drop-offs
Throw past, retrieve through the transition.
Grass tops (shallow)
3/8 oz, keep bait just above the canopy.
Points / cuts / ditches in grass
Key ambush spots — slow down and work thoroughly.
Cheat Sheet
Blade stops thumping
Snap rod hard OR burn the reel handle — fish often hit on the rip.
Sunny day on docks
Skip a Chatter Shad under the platform; Diesel Minnow doesn't skip as well.
Bait feeling sluggish
Flip the Diesel Minnow upside down — totally different action.
Dirty water, no answer
Black & Blue, slow steady, parallel to cover.
