Structure & water

Duke Energy reservoir, the southernmost on the Pee Dee chain below Tillery — narrow, riverine lake with extensive standing timber, stumps, laydowns, and stained water. Much shallower than Tillery, much more cover, classic Southern bass lake feel. Current from Tillery generation positions fish on stumps and laydowns. Lightly pressured compared to the rest of the chain.

Local tip

Blewett Falls is a stump field — go slow, run a clean line, and use a trolling motor with GPS spot-lock to fish individual stumps. The lake fishes much bigger than its 2,560 acres because the timber holds fish year-round. Best on stable weather; muddy blowouts from upstream can shut it down for days.
