Structure & water
5,350-acre Yadkin River reservoir between High Rock and Tuckertown — deep (190 ft at the dam), clear, and structure-rich with steep rock bluffs, main-lake points, submerged humps, and creek-channel ledges. The most spotted-bass-dominant lake on the Yadkin chain and a top FFS destination. Blueback herring forage stacks bass on offshore structure year-round. Hosts the annual Bassmaster Open events; produced multiple 8+ lb largemouth in recent tournaments.
Forage: Threadfin shad, gizzard shad, blueback herring, alewife, bluegill, crayfish

Hot spots
Rocky main-lake bluffs (mid-lake to dam)
Steep rock walls dropping to 40+ ft — drop shot and damiki rig on FFS for spots and largemouth. Best summer pattern on the lake.
Offshore humps & brush piles (12–25 ft)
Football jig, Carolina rig, or deep crank (Strike King 6XD/10XD) in shad colors. Schooling fish blow up on top all summer.
Garr Creek & Beaverdam Creek arms
Spawning flats with rock-and-clay transitions in March–May. Jerkbait in pre-spawn, wacky Senko during the spawn.
Tailrace below Falls Reservoir dam (upper end)
Current concentrates bait and largemouth — swim jig and chatterbait in the seams. Best at generation start.
Top patterns
Summer
Drop Shot / Damiki Rig (FFS)
3" minnow on a 1/8–3/16 oz drop shot in 18–35 ft along rock bluffs and offshore brush — forward-facing sonar is the difference-maker. Damiki on a 1/4 oz head for suspended fish above the brush.
Summer
Strike King 6XD/10XD or 3/4 oz football jig with a craw trailer on offshore humps and ledges in 14–22 ft.
Pre-spawn
Megabass Vision 110 in clear or pro-blue ripped over 8–15 ft rocky points and bluff transitions when water is 48–58°F.

Local tip
Badin is a forward-facing-sonar lake more than any other in the region. If you don't have FFS, focus on the offshore humps with a Carolina rig and football jig and you can still catch them — but with FFS, target the rock bluffs from mid-lake to the dam where spots and largemouth suspend over 30+ ft and chase a damiki rig. Schooling activity on calm summer mornings is explosive; keep a 1 oz silver flutter spoon and a topwater walking bait rigged at all times.
