Structure & water
Duke Energy nuclear cooling reservoir — one of the top trophy largemouth fisheries on the East Coast, regularly producing 10+ lb fish and double-digit stringers. Heavy hydrilla and milfoil grass beds, abundant timber, deep creek channels, and warm water from the plant discharge that extends the growing season. Strict slot limit protects the trophy class. 10 HP limit on the north end (Cary lake portion); main lake unrestricted.
Forage: Threadfin shad, gizzard shad, bluegill, shellcracker, crayfish

Hot spots
Main-lake hydrilla edges (south end)
Outside grass edges in 6–12 ft — heart of the trophy bite. Swim jig, chatterbait, frog over the mat, jig & craw in the holes.
Tom Jack Creek
Major creek with timber, grass, and deeper channel. Pre-spawn staging area; chatterbait and jerkbait.
White Oak Creek
Spawning factory with abundant cover. Frog, Senko, and swim jig from April–June.
Power plant discharge / hot hole (north end, restricted access — fish from outside the buoys)
Warm water draws bait and bass in winter; fish the edges of the restricted zone with Alabama rig and jerkbait.

Regulations
NC fishing license required. Largemouth slot: must be under 16" OR over 20" — 2/day, only ONE may be over 20". This is the trophy regulation and the reason Harris produces giants — respect it. 10 HP max on the north end (Cary lake separator); main lake no HP limit but 25 mph speed limit. No alcohol.
Local tip
Harris is the closest realistic shot at a 10-pounder within 2 hours of Greensboro. The slot exists because it works — do not keep a fish between 16 and 20 inches under any circumstances. Big-fish window is January–April: pre-spawn females staging on grass edges in 6–12 ft eat a chatterbait or swim jig better than anything. Bring heavy gear; this is not a finesse lake.
