    Full-service VA-side marina inside Occoneechee State Park. Best access for the upper VA creek arms and the Roanoke River channel.

Reciprocal NC/VA license agreement on Kerr — fish entire lake with either NC or VA license. Largemouth: 14" minimum, 5/day (NC waters); VA reg similar but verify. Striped bass: seasonal regulations vary by zone — check NCWRC and VDWR before each trip. Open 24 hours; no motor restrictions.

Local tip

Kerr is enormous — don't try to fish the whole lake in a day. Pick a section (Nutbush, Eastland, or the Bluestone end) based on season and stick to it. Summer mornings the herring bite on offshore humps can be once-in-a-career; when you mark balled-up shad on a hump between Satterwhite and Henderson Point, sit on top and wait — the schooling activity rotates through and one good push can fill a livewell in 20 minutes. Use the reciprocal NC/VA license to fish across the state line freely. For multi-day trips, Satterwhite Point or Occoneechee SP cabins beat hotels — you're back on the water at first light.
