Upsize everything. 7'3"–7'6" Heavy rod, 50 lb braid tied direct to the split ring, 4/0 Gamakatsu Superline EWG, and a heavier tungsten cylinder to punch through mats and pile through bushes. Use in place of a heavy Texas rig when you want the bait to keep swimming after the weight stops.

7' Medium/Fast spinning, 2500 reel, 10 lb braid to a 6–8 lb fluoro leader. Small cylinder weight and a light-wire mosquito or offset hook with a 4" finesse worm, 5" Senko, or 3" single-tail grub. Slow drag on hard bottom, shake beside dock posts and rock. Deadly on cold-front and highly-pressured fish.

Where to Throw Each
Bottom Glide (default)
Pull the rod sideways instead of snapping upward. The bait glides flat along bottom and settles naturally on the pause.
Brush Shake
Drape the line over a limb, suspend the weight just off bottom, and quiver the bait in place next to the wood.
Punch & Pause
Let the cylinder weight lead through pad stems and sparse mats, then pause under the canopy on slack for the bite.
Horizontal Swim
Slow-roll a big worm — Zoom Ol' Monster or Magnum Trick Worm — so the weight counterbalances and keeps the bait level.
Dead Stick
Cold-front move: pitch, drop, and stop. Move it inches, let the free-swinging plastic keep breathing without forward travel.
Hop & Drop (search)
Short hops for active fish, but keep it short. Most bites come on the fall or the first pause — don't over-work it.

Dock post or bridge piling
Skip past the piling, feed slack for the vertical fall, then shake in place on the shady side.
Brush pile
Drape line over a limb, suspend the weight, quiver the bait — bites come on the pause.

Re-rig — the plastic is bent. Any bend kills the horizontal posture.
Weight tangling with the hook
Shorten the split-ring travel or swap to a dedicated Jika connector; cylinder should hang, not lay across the hook shank.
