60-Second Refresher

Start the blade on splashdown: Give the rod a short snap as the lure lands so the blade engages instantly instead of sinking dead.

Slow is the default: The inline spinner shines at the slowest speed that keeps the blade turning. Speed up only in warm water or when covering bank.

Count it down: Sinks at roughly a foot per second. Most bass work happens in the top 6 ft.

Run the swivel: Size 10 SPRO Power Swivel 18–24 in above the lure kills line twist before it reaches the spool. Mandatory with Rooster Tails, optional with Mepps.

Size #2–#4 for bass: Roughly 1/8 to 3/8 oz. #0 and #1 are trout and bream sizes — bass eat them, but you'll spend the day unhooking bluegill.

When to Throw

Good Water

Clear water, pressured lakes, creek arms and current, bank fishing walk-and-cast, mixed-species days, and anywhere a spinnerbait feels too bulky.

Bad Water

Grass mats, brush piles, laydowns, or any thick cover — trebles hang. This is an open-water and sparse-cover lure.

Creek Arms

Blade runs true where bulkier baits blow out in current.

Riprap with Wind

Slow-roll parallel — the flash reads as a small baitfish.

Bank Fishing

Cast parallel to the bank, steady retrieve — one of the best walk-and-cast lures there is.

Clear Pressured Water

Compact single blade produces flash without the bulk that pressured fish inspect and refuse.

Tailwater Sections

Built for moving water. Keep the blade turning against the current.
