How the tool picks a crankbait
Depth comes first. A crankbait only catches fish in the zone it runs through, so the tool starts with the baits built to reach the depth you pick, from squarebills that stay above three feet to deep divers that reach past twenty.
Cover decides the bill and the buoyancy. Wood and rock call for a bill that deflects and a body that floats up off a snag; grass calls for a bait that rips free cleanly; open water rewards long casts and a straight track.
Water clarity decides sound and color. Muddy water wants a wide wobble and a loud rattle; clear water wants a silent, tight-wobbling bait in a natural or translucent color. Temperature sets the wobble: tight and flat-sided when it’s cold, wide and hunting when it’s warm.
Forage and light pick the color family — shad, chartreuse, craw, or bluegill — and the tool hands you the exact color from the box that fits. Every result also includes a plain-English spec, so you can match it with a crankbait you already own.
