When to Throw
Good Water
Calm clear water, shoreline overhangs, shade from trees or docks, post-cold-front conditions, visible pressured bass, cicada hatches, clear pressured lakes.
Bad Water
Stained or muddy water, windy chop, fast current, aggressive/unpressured fish that want a bigger reaction bait.

Cadence
Dead stick with micro-twitches — subtlety is the entire point
Cast tight to the target — overhangs, shade lines, docks, or open clear water where fish are visible. Let it sit on impact and do nothing at first; this is the default. Twitch very gently — barely enough to make the bait shudder in place, not walk or pop hard. An occasional slightly firmer pop followed by an extended dead stop can trigger a looking fish. Match the natural cadence of a struggling insect — irregular, small movements, long stretches of stillness. Never work it like a standard topwater. On a follow or a look without a commit, stop entirely and let it sit dead still longer than feels reasonable before the next micro-twitch. Common mistake: working it too aggressively.

Pick the color to the light and cover, not the water
FF Kuro Ageha (black with subtle flash) is the versatile default across most clear-water conditions. Switch to solid black/dark for the best silhouette under overhangs and shaded cover. Go natural (olive, brown, green) during cicada or terrestrial insect activity to match the hatch. Use white/bone in daytime clear water when you want the fish to spot the bait faster.
